Day 1: Early today we head south and east through Tennessee to the beautiful city of Chattanooga. This afternoon we tour the incredible Tennessee Aquarium, the largest and most complete freshwater aquarium in the world. We check into the new Drury Plaza hotel for our relaxing two-night stay before enjoying the Kick-Back reception with hot and cold food, soft drinks, beer and wine. KB
Day 2: Today we will learn why Chattanooga has earned the nickname “Scenic Center of the South”. Ruby Falls, located in Twin Caves, is under the battlefield, 1,120 feet below the surface. The falls drop 145 feet in a solid sheet of water. We’ll ride the world-famous incline Railway to the top of rugged and beautiful Lookout Mountain. On a clear day you will be able to see seven states from Lover’s Leap at Rock City Gardens. We’ll see Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village, where millions of years of geological history have been etched into these stone formations. This afternoon we will relax and enjoy a cruise on the Tennessee River aboard the Southern Belle before enjoying dinner together this evening. B, D
Day 3: Before setting our sights for home we will take a ride on Missionary Ridge Local Railroad. The Missionary Ridge offers us a perfect “bitesize” train ride. Our journey will be a 6-mile, 55-minute round trip and will pack a lot of history into a compact timeframe. We will cross four bridges, passing through pre-Civil War, horseshoe-shaped tunnel, historic turntable demonstration, and a brief tour of train restoration shops. As we travel home we will enjoy a delicious lunch as we share memories of the delightful time we’ve had in amazing Chattanooga! B, L
