6 Days - 5 Nights - 11 Meals

Day 1:  We depart bright and early this morning to begin our adventure to the beautiful state of Georgia and its Golden Isles!  The discovery of the Golden Isles dates to the 1500’s when Spanish explorers came seeking gold.  Gold ore was not found, but what they did find was a far different treasure in wide expanses of golden marshes, brilliant golden sun, and a sunset glow they had never experienced, hence the name…Golden Isles. We overnight near Charlotte and enjoy dinner together.  D

Day 2:  After our included breakfast we set our sights for the lovely Golden Isles.  Upon arrival we will visit Georgia’s only sea turtle education and rehabilitation facility.  The Center offers the public a chance to learn about sea turtles and see rehabilitation in action with a host of interactive exhibits and experiences.  After lunch we will board the Jekyll Island Trolley for a guided tour of the 240-acre historic district of Jekyll Island which includes entry into a historic cottage and admission into the Mosaic Gallery and Faith Chapel at your leisure. We will check into our first-class hotel for our three-night stay.  Dinner is included tonight on the Island. B, D

Day 3:  After our included breakfast we will board the Katie Underwood, the main ferry serving Sapelo Island.  Your Sapelo Island tour will include the Sapelo Lighthouse, which once guided tall-sail timber ships in and out of Doboy Sound enroute to Darien, the one-time timber capital of the Atlantic coast.  Check out the Civil War cannon emplacement near the lighthouse and imagine Union and Confederate ships and blockade runners vying to reach the port of Darien.  During your visit, notice the twice-daily rhythms of Sapelo’s tidal creeks and marshes.  You may get a glimpse of an eagle soaring overhead.  We will visit the Fort King George State Historic Site, an 18th century frontier fortification on the Altamaha River, reconstructed for public tours.  A delicious lunch is included on the Beach Pavilion on Sapelo Island.  Our dinner is also included this evening. B, L, D

Day 4:  After breakfast we will meet our local guide and discover St. Simon’s Island! Your tour will include a visit to Fort Frederica, Christ Church, the oil house, and the Victorian gazebo.  Your visit will include St. Simons Island Lighthouse and Keeper’s Dwelling. Lunch will be enjoyed on your own at St. Simons Village with several great restaurants to choose from.  Our dinner will be included together this evening.  B, D

Day 5:  After breakfast and departure from our hotel, we set our sights for historic Greenville, SC for lunch on your own in the Textile Capital of the World.  This afternoon we visit the famous Buc-ees before arriving for our overnight stay in Kodak, Tennessee. Our dinner is included this evening at the delicious Chop House.  B, D

Day 6:  After an included breakfast, we set our sights for home full of wonderful memories of the Golden Isles of Georgia.  B
